All non-organic materials used in these products are from recycled or upcycled sources whenever these are available.
All materials used are OEKO TEX certified. All suppliers are audited for ethical production. There is full compliance with relevant standards set by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Production is Sedex SMETA Pillar 4 approved. Every product goes through a scrupulous life cycle analysis to reduce waste and improve sustainability. Everything is designed to promote the use of re-claimed materials and the expansion of the circular economy. Full manufacture and supply chain accreditation available on request.
This sock can be produced in
Regular Cotton - Conventional cotton from ethical producers within the European Union.
Upcycled Cotton - High quality reprocessed cotton. Provides significant savings in water, resources and pollutants.
Bamboo Yarn - The softest, most comfortable and skin-friendly material.
GOTS Organic Cotton
Chemical-free, sustainably produced and processed. Transaction certificate available.
Upcycled yarn is derived from used clothing and pattern cutting scraps from garment production. The upcycling process is mechanical, so no water, dyes or chemicals are used and the production process has extremely low CO2 emissions – the factory we use has 50% solar power.
Upcycled cotton is available in up to 20 standard colours, with others available on request.
We’re often asked about the difference between upcycling and recycling. Recycling still requires water, dyes and chemicals. It is better than discarding the goods, but it is not yet as environmentally friendly as upcycling.
